The group gathered at the train station where we took the train to the ancient town of Vic. While some were catching up on sleep during the train ride, most of us were enjoying and capturing the beautiful view on the mountains and villages of Catalonia. After the one and a half our ride we arrived at VIC. Here there was a nice young lady waiting for us to welcome us and tell us more about the University we were visiting and also show us around there. We had a small tour around the University and even got some gifts including a USB stick. Happily surprised by the Spanish hospitality we went on to a class room where we got to present our school and the project we are working on. We presented to a class of students but before we did so we sat with them during a short class. Then the class was divided in many small groups and each group was made out of two (or more) VIC students and IBMS students. We engaged in a conversation, led by questions that were made by the sponsors beforehand. By asking these questions we could get information and help from the local students on how to go about our project and what we should consider. This small assignment was not only helpful for the project groups but for all the students. As the students were asking the questions they got into a conversation about all things that they were interested in knowing. To give an example, me and my friend Grace sat with two girls from VIC to do the assignment. We sat next to them thinking they were Spanish. However, they turned out to be International students from Rome, Italy. After we answered the questions on the paper I asked them questions that were on my mind like how it's like to live in Spain and what the differences are compared to Italy. They were extremely friendly and told me so much about their personal experiences in Spain and VIC specifically. After discussing, school, teachers, tuition fees, language barriers and even fashion, I felt like we had connected and I learned a lot for that one conversation. Afterwards we had a discussion/conversation with the whole class and the teachers. We left the University and had a quick bite and some coffee in one of the local cafes. After that we wandered around town with a tour guide who could tell us everything about the ancient history of Vic. We walked around ancient old monuments, churches and markets. After this unforgettable experience it was time to head back to Barcelona where we had the entire evening to ourselves. Which meant time for tapas, drinks and dancing.
